Popular XCW Wrestling was a mainstay for over a decade

Dec. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- After over a decade, XCW Wrestling, once a popular Friday night destination for wrestling fans all over North Texas, will run it's last-ever show this Saturday night, December 19, in Pilot Point, at 218 W. Liberty St, starting at 8pm.  Tickets for this special event will be only $5.

Founded at the end of the last decade in Plano, XCW moved to Denton in late 2001 and ran weekly shows in Denton until fall of 2008, first in a small office park off of E. McKinney and later off of Fort Worth Drive in the former Groovy Mule building, before moving to a home base in Pilot Point and other areas for the past year.

Known for it's roughhouse style and edgy feel, XCW Wrestling was incredibly popular with the college-aged fans in Denton, who would bring coolers of beer and even their own objects to the shows, hoping that some of it's wrestling stars would use them in the wild matches that had long become a staple of XCW shows.

The XCW roster gained it's own rabid fan base, with fans standing and cheering for homegrown wrestling stars such as Drunk Adam, Gemini, Sidd Murder, John Allen, Scott McKenzie, Jack Drastic, and Scott Phoenix, as well as veteran wrestlers who made XCW home during portions of it's ten year history such as Action Jackson, Al Jackson, Khris Germany and Kit Carson.  Stars known nationally also passed through XCW Wrestling over the years, including Hernandez, The Necro Butcher, Mad Man Pondo, and the Ragin' Bull Manny Fernandez, among others.

XCW's annual Battlebox events were known to fans as some of the hardest-hitting shows found anywhere, and the promotion was the company who brought in some of the most dangerous matches known in the industry, such as the no-roped barbed wire match.

XCW Wrestling DVDs were briefly sold nationally and are available on websites such as Amazon.com and Netflix.  The hard-hitting action could also be seen on cable network MavTV.  Stories on XCW Wrestling appeared in the Dallas Observer in 2005 and The Dallas Morning News in 2006.

The final show will feature stars from XCW's past and present, featuring a title defense by XCW Champion Gemini VS Jerome Daniels, a no-rope barbed wire match between Hugh Rogue and Bull, a tag team title match between the Dark Circle and Tru Life Playaz, Sidd Murder VS Ricky Jackson, Action Jackson VS Bobby Lambert, and the return of a classic XCW feud, featuring Scott Phoenix and Drunk Adam w/ Lady Draven VS Kit Carson and Khris Germany.  Others appearing include JT Lamotta, Kevin Douglas, and more.
