Modern Skate & Surf began in 1979 with a 1,300 sq. ft. retail store in Royal Oak, Michigan at the base of the water tower to the Detroit Zoo in 1979. They have grown to open an 80,000 sq. ft. world class indoor skate park complex to compliment their popular retail outlet on Woodward Avenue at 12 ½ mile in Royal Oak.

The 80,000 sq. ft. facility on 4 ½ acres is so big it’s actually in both Madison Heights AND Royal Oak. The new Modern Skate Park will be the site of live music, DJ’s, many give-a-ways and several high profile skating events this Memorial Weekend. (www.modernskate.com)
