Dec. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Midnight purple, the iconic colour of the Nissan GT-R, is no longer the exclusive preserve of owners of the Spec V version of the R35. Vehicle wrapping specialists, Creative FX have come to the rescue with a purple wrap that allows GT-R owners to upgrade to a Spec V look for a fraction of the cost.

Last week, automotive journalist, and proud R35 GT-R owner, David Yu, had his gun metal GT-R transformed to deep purple in less than three days by the Creative FX team.  The company's specially trained staff applied the wrap using a specialist self-adhesive vinyl, which was gently heated and stretched over the car's bodywork.  With the temperature constantly monitored using a laser thermometer, the curves and detailing of the GT-R were meticulously followed to provide a faultless finish.

"The Creative FX guys did a fantastic job, and the fit and finish are amazing," said David Yu.  "The wrap even goes in to the shut lines of the doors, bonnet and boot. Most of the people who’ve seen it thought it was a respray!"

A favourite of GT-R owners, midnight purple (or 'ultimate black pearl' as it’s now known), is only available on the Spec V version of the latest R35 - at a cool £120,000 it’s double the price of the standard GT-R.  A shade lighter than midnight purple, the Creative FX wrap can be applied for just £1,950 (+ VAT).

David Yu's GT-R was the very first R35 in the country and since he bought it back in April, it has been the subject of regular features in performance car magazine, EVO.

Creative FX vinyl wraps are guaranteed for up to five years and, providing the bodywork is in good condition when the wrap is applied, can be removed with ease at anytime without damage to the paintwork.   The vinyl wrap is not exclusive to GT-R owners, and purple is by no means the only colour available. There is a wide range of colours and finishes - including the currently popular matt black and carbon fibre - and customers can even wrap cars with their own designs.

With no special treatment required, care and maintenance of the wrap is simple.  "David can continue to wash and wax his car with conventional car products," said Creative FX Managing Director, Sean Davis.

David Yu's wrapped R35 GT-R will be on display at Piston Heads, which runs alongside the Autosport International Show at the NEC, Birmingham, from 14th to 17th January 2010.
