What is a multi-function pen?
Multi-function pens are a great gift idea for the person who has everything. These pens come in many functions, styles and sizes. They are a good option if you are on a tight budget and a pen/pencil set is slightly out of your reach. Multi-function pens are great for the office, school and are excellent if you are travelling. A multi-function pen is a writing instrument which holds a number of refills in one barrel. Below is an overview of some of the functions of this type of pen.

Twin Pen
The twin pen normally comes as a ballpoint + pencil combination. Changing the function of the pen is easy  as it normally has a simple twist action mechanism. The pencil leads are 0.5mm or 0.7mm depending on the model you choose and these pens generally come complete with an eraser hidden away under the cap.

Another alternative is the IT twin pen which is a ballpoint + PDA Stylus in one. A great option for the computer buff and compact enough to slip into the pocket.

Tri Pen
The Tri pen is available as a Ballpoint + Pencil + Stylus or a 2 x colour Ballpoint + Pencil.
These pens are as compact as a normal size ballpoint pen and multi-task like no other. Like the Twin Pen these pens generally have a simple twist action mechanism and the refills are widely available.

4 x Function Pen
Any combination of the above but with another colour ballpoint included eg: red or green. Again very compact these pens are ideal if you don't want to be carrying a pocket full of pens around with you.

4 x function are also available as a 4x colour pen: red, blue, black and green or highlighter, these pens are extremely popular with teachers or anyone who needs to do a lot of marking.
