Nov. 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Modern art started as a concept after the year 1880 in art history. Impressionism was the main form involved in modern art during the early days. During the second half of the 20th century, there have been many additions and deletions to the concept of modern art. New art styles and movements have appeared and disappeared, reflecting the growing rate of changes in the society in which we live in.

The Impressionists preferred to paint outdoor landscapes and scenes from daily life. Then Fauvism appeared and the artists added vivid and impressive colors, bringing the art forms to life. Fauvism believed in the use of simple designs in combination with "pure colors". The German form of Fauvism is known as Expressionism.

After Fauvism came along the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements. They were primarily dedicated to natural art forms. The Art Deco movement is usually regarded as a follow-up to the Art Nouveau form. These art forms showed up in mass production in fashion, furniture, textiles, jewelry, architecture and interior decorations.

Other forms in Modern Art are Cubism and Surrealism. Cubism is where images are converted to cubes or other geometric forms. Surrealism emphasizes the unconscious and the importance of dreams and trances. Abstract art is another art form in modern art concept.

Sometimes abstract art has been thought of as too elite and sophisticated for the general public to understand. Modern art these days have evolved into forms of visual and computer graphics and 3D animations.

Other forms of modern art are Pop Art and Optical Art (Op Art). The contemporary scenario of modern art is that is a confluence of all the art styles from the movements, beginning with Impressionism. The dynamic nature of this creative genre is evolving and reaching new heights everyday.

Great masters in modern art are respected and admired because they are thought leaders. They lead the way on a spiritual level with their art creations. Other artists turn to their creative artwork to derive inspiration and direction.

Different people appreciate modern art in different ways. Some find it amusing, some questionable, some refreshing, and some find modern art enlightening. In any case, as the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

People may find different art movements appealing to them. Some of the rememberable names in the art movements of modern art are as follows. Fauvism – Matisse, Surrealism – Dali, Impressionism – Monet, Art Nouveau Movement – Picasso.
