Tin Mining Resources in China

Nov. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Output of Tin in China accounts for more than 30% of the whole world. Explored reserve of tin of China has reached to 5.6037 million tons, recoverable deposits is 4.0741 million tons and basic reserve of tin accounts for 24% of that of the world (7.7 million tons) until 1996. There are 293 producing areas that have been exploited, the producing areas mainly include: Dachang, Shanhu and Shuiyanba of Guangxi Province, Dongchuan of Yunan Province; Xianghualing, Hongqiling and Yejiwei of Hunan Province. Gejiu with tin super large deposit is a famous tin city in the world. Guangxi is one of the areas which are rich in indium tin deposit, recoverable deposits is on the top of the whole country, metal reserves of large plant mining area of Nandan is more than 0.7 million and is the largest tin deposit in Guangxi Province.
China's production of tin concentrate in 2003 was estimated at 55,649 t, an 11% decrease from 2002.production of refined tin totalled 100,047t. The main tin producing region were Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province which decreased production by 23% and 18% respectively. As a result of depressed tin prices nad demand globally Chinese exports of tin products decreased by 3.5% in 2002 to 44 000 t, but increased 15% in value to US$191 million. Imports increased by 5% to 29,.600 t valued at US$130 million, an increase of almost 20% over 2002. Exports of refined tin totalled 31,300 t. Net exports were 26,300 t.

Tin resources of China are distributed over 15 provinces and autonomous regions, among which Yunnan possesses 1.28 million tons of retained reserves, accounting for 31.4% of China's total; Guangxi--1.3404 million tons, making up 32.9% of the total; Guangdong--408,200 tons, representing 10.0% of the total; Hunan--362,500 tons, constituting 8.9% of the total: Inner Mongolia--328,700 tons, accounting for 8.1% of the total; Jiangxi--260,400 tons, making up 6.4% of the country's total. The retained reserves of above-mentioned six provinces (or regions) constitute 97.7% of China's total.
