Introducing the LG BL20 Chocolate

Nov. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- This October, LG Mobile launched its second phone from the new Chocolate series - the LG BL20 Chocolate. The BL20 follows the highly successful LG BL40 Chocolate which has proved popular with users since its launching this year. Touted as the BL40’s little brother, the BL20 has a lot of similar features with the first LG Chocolate phone.

Like its predecessor, the BL20 showcases LG’s taste for mobile phones with enhanced features combined with a sleek, minimalist design. It seems that the target demographic of LG mobile is the style-conscious users who choose phones primarily for its appearance.

How the BL20 Looks Like

The BL20 references the design of the original BL40. It has a glossy black surface accentuated by red highlights – although this time the red splash of colour can be found in the sliding keypad handset. It has an upgraded version of LG’s trademark Hidden Navigation Keys, which becomes visible only when the handset slides open.

The BL20 is one of the smallest mobile phones in the market today with its dimensions of 106.9 mm (length) x 50.8 mm (width) x 12.33 mm (depth or thickness). It weighs a measly 115 grams.

The BL20 has a 2.4 inch display screen with resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, which is pretty decent for such a small phone.

What the BL20 Can Do

One of the most liked features of the BL20 is its 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, housed in a slim casing. In addition, the BL20 also has a TextScan function called Clear Memo Capture that can scan drawings or texts from hand-written notes, offering you an alternative way of recording information. Using this technology, you can communicate with your friends and family in a more personal level. For example, you can draw a map, scan it on your phone and send it your friends via email or MMS.

The BL20 also has Widget Hotkey which will enable users to personalise the phones. Using this feature, you can choose your favourite functions for easy access. You can find the Widget Hotkey at the lower right corner of the Hidden Touch Navigation. It offers one-touch direct access to the functions you use most frequently such as News, Weekly Schedule, Alarm or Today’s Weather.

Another great feature of the BL20 is the Side Touch Control, which is usually found in a laptop’s keypad. The LG BL20 Chocolate has touch sensitive keys at the side of the phone that supports vertical scrolling. It can be used to control the camera zoom or to increase the volume.

Choosing the BL20

The BL20 is a very good choice, especially since its battery can last up to 450 hours on stand-by mode (more than 18 days) and can support up to 5 hours of non-stop talk time. It also supports GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz, UMTS 900 / 2100 MHz, EDGE and HSDPA connectivity. It also has GPRS capability, which is very useful for location-based searches and navigation purposes.   

The BL20 is set to be released in Europe this October at the launch price of GBP269.00 – a pretty good deal considering the unit’s superior design and many useful features.
