Oct. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Beacon Hill, Inc. a New York software consultancy released today its Sitemapper application as Open Source.

Sitemapper is a command line tool for automatically creating sitemap.xml files for web sites. The application knows how to build the appropriate xml file using your web sites local directory to build the embedded links accurately. With this tool webmasters can be assured that they have an accurate sitemap.xml file every time they rebuild and publish their site.

Alternative applications require manual tasks to be performed. With Beacon Hill's Sitemapper a webmaster can have the sitemap file generated during a final publishing event.

The complete system is downloadable and includes the full source code for inspection and customization. A run time is included in the download so the system can be tried without having to rebuild.

Those users interested in building Sitemapper should be familar with Ant and Java.
