By: Jim Dowd QUARTER MIDGET RACING CLUB 2177 Horseshoe Pike P.O. Box 305 HONEYBROOK, PA 19344 September 18, 2009 The Doylestown Quarter Midget Racing Club is located in southeastern Pennsylvania in rural Honeybrook, PA. Our racing club and facility has a rich heritage that began over 50 years ago with the hard work of our members and generous support from the community. Began in the 1950’s this youth Quarter Midget club has been serving its youth and the community well. The first track constructed was built in the Doylestown area in Pa, where it operated for 20 some odd years. Due to the urban sprawl the leased lot where countless families built and maintained the track for many years was sold in order to make room for a shopping center. Upon finding a suitable site in the 1970’s to relocate the track in rural HoneyBrook, where it was thought it to be safe from further urban sprawl into the countryside. The DQMRC members again built another track facility at 2177 Horseshoe Pike , Honeybrook, PA where it currently operates weekly races throughout the race season. Both the past and current facilities were built, operated, and maintained on leased land throughout the 50 years of racing and countless children have gon eaorund the track under DQMRC guidance. We are yet again facing the urban sprawl in to the previously undeveloped western part of Chester County, PA. The land we occupy is for sale and the club is unable to purchase the 130 acres for just the use of the 5 acres we occupy. We are looking for a site that hopefully we can make our own and ensure that yet another move of the club would be unnecessary in the future. Just approved in June 2009 with the help of the past and current presidents of the track DQMRC has been approved as a 501 c 3 charitable organization. We are actively seeking donations to keep our youth busy through motorsports, and specifically quarter midget racing. Current cost estimates would put such an endeavor at 1 million dollars plus to find land, perform engineering, get approvals, and build a new facility. DQMRC is accepting financial donations, professional services in lieu of direct financial support and material donations to make the new facility a reality. Quarter Midget racing is a wonderful family sport that teaches our youth the respect and responsibility that comes with getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. They also learn hand/eye coordination, develop sharp reflexes and critical thinking processes through racing. Please help us make our dream a reality by donating to the DQMRC. Donations may be sent to the above address and inquiries may be directed to Jim Dowd @ jbd1168@comcast.net You may check out the website of our local club @ www.dqmrc.com and the National organization that we operate under as the sanctioning body www.quartermidgets.org Thank you, Jim Dowd DQMRC-President # # # About DQMRC: DQMRC Fosters youth through our on the track racing program and quarter midget racing. We have been around for over 50 years and need to ensure we will be here much longer that that. End
