IE Discovery’s BRIDGE Supports D.C. Area and National Charities

Employee-run volunteer program encourages service, volunteer work and provides financial support

Sept. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C. - IE Discovery, a leading provider of comprehensive Discovery Management solutions to the legal community, has announced the results of its “Bridge” volunteer program for Fiscal 2009. During the year, IE Discovery employees completed more than 700 hours of service, resulting in a company donation of $6,700 in BRIDGE funds. The largest awards from the Washington, D.C. office were presented to the Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care and the Delta Education & Public Service Foundation.

IE Discovery’s BRIDGE program encourages its employees to support whatever charitable organization they wish by volunteering, and also provides a company-sponsored pool of money for various community needs. The pool is funded based upon the number of hours of community service performed, with $20 contributed for each hour (up to 12 hours per employee per year). Each employee may allocate half his or her annual BRIDGE funds to any charitable organization and the remainder is pooled and distributed at year-end by the BRIDGE committee. “The BRIDGE program enables our team members to support whatever cause they are passionate about,” said Destiny Pugh, Executive Assistant at IE Discovery and BRIDGE Head Coach. “They can direct all their time and half their funds however they like.”

Team members from IE Discovery’s Washington, D.C. office donated their time to 14 different organizations and the program supported 10 organizations financially, including the Caribbean Health Center, USO Metropolitan Washington and the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. “Our team was really excited to support Washington-area causes, who all really appreciated the assistance,” said Carla Fachtmann Fuschillo, Legal Associate at IE Discovery and BRIDGE Coach for D.C.

The biggest beneficiaries, however, were the Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care, where IE Discovery employees spent 247 hours and the company donated $1,540 and Delta Education & Public Service Foundation, which received a contribution of $1,420.

“Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care is deeply grateful for IE Discovery’s commitment to service and philanthropy and for their generous donation to our organization,” said Ashley Griffith, Development Officer at Mary’s Center. “This contribution will allow Mary’s Center to continue providing our most vulnerable families and children in the Washington metropolitan region with the highest quality health care, social, and educational services.  Moving forward, we anticipate a strong relationship with IE Discovery’s employees, especially through our volunteer program at the Center.”

Patricia M. Willis, Vice-Chair of the Delta Education & Public Service Foundation added, “We really appreciate both IE Discovery’s financial contribution and their effort. Their support will allow us to continue providing programs that meet the needs of our youth, to increase our ability to reach out to the community and to augment our public service activities in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.”

More than half of IE Discovery’s employees participated in the BRIDGE program. “I am very proud of our entire team,” said Chris May, CEO of IE Discovery. “Our people work hard, and it takes a true commitment to give back so much time at the end of a busy day.”
