Blackberry Bold's Most Functional Features

A quick review of the most functional parts of the Blackberry Bold

Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Most cell phone reviews give you the details of every inch of the phone.  We appreciate those, and sometimes want to read them.  This review is meant to quickly provide you with the most functional parts of the Blackberry Bold – in our opinion.  The bread and butter if you will.  So who are we?  Well, Cycled Cells (http://www.cycledcells.com) is an easy alternative to time consuming, risky and frustrating experiences associated with the typical online marketplace or classifieds. As a result, we spend hours reviewing and playing with cell phones.  Read on to hear about some of our favorite features you can enjoy with a Bold.

Perhaps the most incredible part of the Bold is the screen.  This is a screen unlike no other screen on a Smartphone.  The picture is crystal clear, and with the incredible resolution, the screen feels much larger than it is.  You won’t be disappointed.

The leather back is another great feature.  Many of you are thinking, “How is that functional?”  Well, it looks great for one, and it feels even better.  When you hold the Bold, you know you are holding something special.

The slide in SD card reader is as convenient as they come.  You no longer have to hassle with removing your battery cover as you switch in a new SD card.

We weren’t sure about the keyboard when we first used the phone, but it is surely something to talk about. Different from other Blackberry keyboards, the Bold’s has less division between the keys.  The Bold’s keyboard is sleek and easy to use once you get used to it.

The updated Operating System on the Bold brings us to our next two features: Visual Voicemail and the ability to switch between 2G and 3G.  The visual voicemail functions similarly to the visual voicemail on the iPhone.   This is surely a step up for the Blackberry user.  The second feature, the ability to switch between 2G and 3G, may sound useless to some, but this can drastically change the battery life of the phone.  For those without the need to use data and voice at the same time, this is a welcomed upgrade, as the phone will last MUCH longer.

The option to use Wi-Fi on a cell phone will soon be standard, but the phones that currently have the ability stand above the rest.  Can’t find cell service?  No worries, just turn on your Wi-Fi and find a local signal.  Boom, you now have email.

The clock feature is one that we particularly liked.  When you plug in the Bold to a charger it automatically switches to the clock.  You can easily exit if you so desire, but this is a great feature if you use your phone as your bedside clock/alarm.  The clock stays dimly lit, providing you with a visible clock at any hour of the night, and politely wakes you up in the morning.  We loved it.

Last, we really enjoyed Blackberry’s functionality with the Google apps.  These were easily installed, and even more easily used.  And, Google Sync makes moving your contacts as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Bottom line: this is a great phone with a lot of power, which can handle almost anything you put it through.  It isn’t the media king that is the iPhone, but it can hold its own while providing you with a very efficient way to get your work finished.
