Spring has sprung! - Picnic Hamper Spring Competition

Celebrate with Interflora’s new picnic hamper and spring promotion

Aug. 26, 2009 - PRLog -- To celebrate the arrival of spring, Interflora South Africa has launched a spring promotion. This promotion aims to bring awareness to a new exciting product in the Interflora catalogue, a picnic basket hamper.

As part of this promotion, a competition is underway in which customers can win two tickets to a Sunday Concert in the Park held at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden in Johannesburg.

Customers who purchase the new picnic hamper will receive automatic entry to the competition and stand the chance of winning a pair of tickets to one of the Sunday Concerts in the Park.

The new picnic basket hamper from Interflora is an exclusive and luxurious spread of typical picnic delights – cheese, pate, chocolates, sparkling wine with fluted glasses and other picnic essentials. The hamper is a welcome addition to the Interflora South Africa catalogue as it is the first of its class.

“Our catalogue hampers are of the finest quality and our customers are always satisfied with the products but we felt that the catalogue needed a product which had functionality, as well as aestheticism. Our hampers contain treats such as snacks and perhaps a bottle of sparkling wine, but none catered for activities where the hamper could actually be taken along and used,” says Sharon Louw, CEO of Interflora South Africa.

“This is why we decided that, with the arrival of spring and the glorious South African weather, we should provide a hamper which could be enjoyed in the outdoors where the best of spring can be enjoyed. And thus the idea for our picnic hamper was created.”

The Sunday concerts are extremely popular as the gardens create a relaxed botanical setting in the heart of Johannesburg. With the arrival of spring in South Africa at the end of August, the events are sure to be as memorable as they have been in the past.

A typical event sees concert goers relaxing on soft grass, shaded by the trees of the gardens and enjoying good food, wine and company to the sounds of famous local and international artists. Picnics are commonplace at these events which run fortnightly throughout spring at the Walter Sisulu Botanical gardens In Johannesburg.

The spring concerts include entertainment by The South African National Ceremonial Guard directed by Major Andrew Strugnell. They will be performing music from around the world at the at the “Arrival of Spring” concert on Sunday the 30th August. The renowned international singer and composer Peter Sarstedt will feature with various supporting acts performing pop and folk hits on Sunday the 13th of September and on Sunday the 27th of September will be a “Top of the Pops” concert featuring Pop Idol Veronique Lalouette.

Louw says, “We realised that the Spring Concerts were a perfect setting for our new picnic hampers to be enjoyed and that the gardens capture everything about spring that is important for Interflora during this season – excitement, renewal, good friends, good food and great music.”
