New for 2009 was the introduction of a special award for Best Children’s design, sponsored by Spearmark International Ltd Student Lighting Designer 2009 Beth Jackson, Edinburgh College of Art with a ceiling light called Air Children's Student Lighting Designer 2009 Faye Whitear, Coventry University with a children's table light called Nuno Second Place Chris Natt, Brunel Universitywith a table light called Stimuli Light 3.0 Third Place Fergus Taylor, Buckinghamshire New University with a table light called Poised Philips Award Catherine Gibbins, Nottingham Trent University with a table light called tom dick and harry. Catherine also was awarded best flatwork.
