By: Paul Koshy An alarming number of those looking to purchase a house do so with an agent that has been referred to them or they have a family friend who is an agent or a relative or your neighbors kid’s wife who just got her license and it would just be socially reprehensible NOT to use them as your agent. Whew thats a lot of pressure! With that being said buyers should not be bearing the brunt of all this social coercion when buying a house. Lets keep in mind a few things. Even if you are P. Diddy a house is most likely going to be the biggest purchase or outlay of money you will ever make in your life. Regardless of the actual price of the house, the ratio to your income will be pretty high and so we don’t want to entrust such a monumental process to just anyone. Compatible Agent Your Perfect Match in Real Estate http://tinyurl.com/ Your agent should be willing to work for you. You are the client in this relationship and you should feel comfortable in asking the questions that need to be asked and ensuring that you are one hundred percent comfortable in your decision to buy X house and not feel like you are being pressured into a purchase. While I do agree that everyone has to start somewhere and experience is only attained one way – I’m not so sure that buying your first home with an inexperienced agent is for everyone – especially those that rank at a high levels of cautiousness on personality tests. If you want to go see 45 properties you agent should be willing to take you – but on the flip side if your agent will take you to go see any property that you want – he or she may not have done a thorough enough analysis of what your needs are as a buyer and what types of properties will peak both your interest as well as still work within your budget. Be sure to do your homework – think of it as a job interview. You wouldn’t want to hire someone without checking out their resume or doing reference checks so feel free to ask for some! Happy buying!
