July 31, 2009 - PRLog -- ABB Low Voltage Products & Systems (LVP&S) is proud to be a Gold Winner in the Consulting Specifying Engineer (CSE) fifth annual Product of the Year (POY) competition. Subscribers and online visitors to one of  the leading trade journal serving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system designers have voted ABB’s PST Extreme Duty Softstarter series the best product in the Motors, Starters, Drives category.

As stated on the CSE award site, "The Product of the Year competition illuminates the products design engineers and specifiers are valuing for MEP systems in nonresidential buildings. In this tough economy, construction and operating budgets are under stress while sustainability issues for energy, water, and materials are growing. Flexibility, modularity, efficiency, and durability seemed to be factors shared by many of this year's winners." said Michael Ivanovich, editor-in-chief, CSE.

Before being awarded as the Gold Winner, ABB was chosen as one of the five top finalists by a panel of judges comprised of professional engineers who regularly design and specify HVAC, electrical, fire protection and plumbing systems. Subscribers to CSE then began voting on these top finalists in May to determine the ranking as gold, silver, or bronze winners.

"We are pleased to see such great products become recognized," said Lorenz Eggenschwiler, the Product Marketing Specialist for ABB Low Voltage Softstarters. "Besides its many functions, ABB offers wide ranges of Softstarters to cover every customer’s need for softer starting and stopping solutions".
