excelcycle of Excelsior Minnesota Sponsors Fourth Annual Tour de Tonka Bicycle Ride

July 30, 2009 - PRLog -- For the third year in a row, excelcycle is sponsoring the 2009 Tour de Tonka Bicycle Ride, to be held on Saturday, August 1 2009 at 7:30 am, with rides departing from the Minnetonka High School.

The Tour de Tonka began in 2006 with three different ride distances to choose from, a 15 mile ride, a 25 mile ride and a 65 mile ride. The 2009 Tour de Tonka offers five different distances, 16, 38, 72 and 75 mile rides, and a new 2 Mile Smile youth ride.

819 riders participated in the first event. Ridership has been steadily increasing to 1881 in 2008, with an even larger turnout expected for 2009.

Blayne Puklich, owner of excelcycle said, “We’re very happy to again play a large part in the continued success of the Tour de Tonka Bicycle Ride. The event is great fun, and the longer distances are a good challenge for a lot of bike riders.”

excelcycle has participated in all of the Tour de Tonka rides, supplying mechanics for repair work. This year excelcycle employees will staff three of the rest stops along the ride routes. excelcycle is also supplying tubes and pumps to the motorcycles and scooters that will be roaming the ride routes to assist riders with flat tires during their ride.
