Record-Play Launches First Ever ‘indie-powered’ Fixed Rate Music Licensing Platform

Music Licensing platform launched with over 2,500 tracks available for immediate licensing from a huge range of respected global indie labels and publishers

July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Independent UK music consultancy Record-Play today announces the launch of the first fully automated music licensing platform of its kind in the industry. The ‘Music Hub’  currently allows over 2,500 indie label tracks to be licensed and used immediately, in any media production, at very accessible fixed rates already agreed and cleared by labels.

The Hub will be a welcomed music resource for any media producers including those in TV, film, advertising, online and games as it takes both the time and cost unpredictability out of clearing tracks. Licensing on the Hub takes seconds and those looking for music to use in their productions no longer have lengthy negotiations and are already aware of the costs for the music’s application.

Music hosted on the Hub can be licensed for all production and media and it is already proving successful with leading companies, including adidas, Reebok, Skoda, Metrodome Films and American clothing brand XOXO, licensing tracks for their commercial productions.

The Music Hub further differentiates itself by being the only music licensing platform dedicated to the independent label industry. Over 50 labels are currently represented on the Hub, including Stones Throw, Tru-Thoughts, Breakin’ Bread, Tirk, Output, Hyperdub, Sunday Best, Distinctive and People in the Sky, and more labels are being added on a daily basis.

“We believe this initiative allows businesses to re-assess the ways in which they use music in productions,” says Daniel Cross, MD of Record-Play. “We have negotiated a low cost structure meaning companies, even those on shoestring budgets, do not need to compromise on quality and can access music from respected and highly credible artists as soundtracks to their media productions.”

“An added benefit for the industry is that all artists have equal exposure to creative briefs and their tracks will be selected by companies for synchronisation on the strength and style of the music itself,” says Cross. “This really puts labels with smaller marketing budgets on an equal footing to more established indie labels and levels the playing field for access to critical revenue from synch.”

The full catalogue of music in the Hub is available for anyone to browse and stream, without registering. For users that register, tracks are immediately available to test to picture or license and registered users can also fully customise their own profiles by creating, storing and sharing playlists. All tracks have been classified and tagged and are searchable by a range of criteria including genre, sub-genre, mood and pace.
