Major Expansion at Archant Print, Norwich

July 16, 2009 - PRLog -- The recently announced press extension at Archant Print will see Harland Simon continuing their excellent relationship with the Norfolk printer that first began in 1995. The latest extension, the second in recent years, will add one folder, four towers and two reelstands to the already impressive facility. The towers will be refurbished before being installed on site.

The project itself will be completed in four stages – new folder and two towers, cross selection options with existing press line, third tower and finally fourth tower. A key aspect of the project is the ability to maintain current production whilst integrating the new equipment into the existing Prima control system. The recent spate of production site closures has meant that there is much less slack time on the presses that remain in production. This, in turn, means the need for specialist companies like Harland Simon that understand both the new and the old equipment has never been greater.

As Rob Watson, Sales Director for Harland Simon, explains ‘We’re doing much more extension and upgrade work than we have in the past and in much tighter timescales. I think print sites are sometimes surprised at what we can achieve whilst keeping the presses in production’.

The new extension will also include two new Prima control consoles and upgrades to the six consoles that are already installed.
