July 7, 2009 - PRLog -- "Lovely Lady", built in 1930 by Nevins of City Island, NY famous for their America's cup yachts and, the only one of her type, was in mid-restoration at the time of this horrific incident, and much had been invested rebuilding her decks, superstructure, and the forward portion of her hull.  Since the interior had been removed prior to the starting the restoration, it was not affected.   Engineers report that the newly rebuilt engines and generators will survive if treated as soon as the yacht is raised, as it is resting in fresh water.

The yacht has appeared in numerous Hollywood films from the '50's to 1988's "Tequila Sunrise", starring Mel Gibson, Michelle Pfieffer, and Kurt Russel.  She has witnessed some great moments in history, as the meeting place of The Univac Corporation, at the dawn of the computer age.  It was the Remington-Rand Corporation (later Sperry-Rand) that propelled Univac into history, and our "Lovely Lady" was the yacht of the company's CEO, the retired US Army General Douglas MacArthur.  Also, Marilyn Monroe was reported to have stayed aboard her during the filming of "Some Like it Hot" in 1958, at San Diego's Coranado hotel.

Although a fund has been created to help save her, and despite letters from Maritime Museums around the world, the Coast Guard has issued an order to destroy this important yacht.  A group formed "Friends of the Lovely Lady", has formed to attract the attention of one or more "Hollywood Heavies", in the hope that a powerful force can come in and immediately rescue the boat.   Those readng this are urged to PASS this to all who might listen, and those who can provide tax-deductible donations to to mail inquires to savetheyacht@gmail.com or richterfound.ll.fund@gmail.com.
