July 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Definition of Soul: Femme Fatale is so big, there was no way we could do it alone. Thanks to Detroit’s preeminent soul music taste-maker Urban Organic, Mosaicthump is again able to bring to Detroit classic soul music live and unfiltered.   Femme Fatale showcases two of the industry's supreme soul singers in the most intimate of settings, Detroit’s Jazz Cafe. Get there early for the the sensuous sounds of featured artist N’Dambi as she prepares to release the long awaited CD entitled “Pink Elephant” and the hip-hop inspired soul of Choklate; fresh off her sophomore release “To Whom It May Concern”.   A special thanks to EsJoint, Fusicology, Afrodisiac Clothing and SoulTracks for their generous support of Mosaicthump and the Definition of Soul Concert Series.

Soul singer N’Dambi was born in Dallas, taking up the piano as a child and first emerged as a backing vocalist for Erykah Badu, later contributing to her 1997 breakthrough album Baduizm.  N’Dambi’s solo debut, “Little Lost Girls Blues” was an instant classic and widely recognized as an underground classic. Her highly anticipated Stax Records/Concord Jazz release entitled “Pink Elephant” will be in stores on August 25, 2009.  N’Dambi’s ability to command a stage is something that has to be witnessed first hand; concert-goers are often overcome by her phenomenal presence along with her poetic and deeply soulful throw-back lyrics reminiscent of Chaka Khan, Me’Shell Ndegeocello, Angie Stone and Macy Gray.

Seattle based songstress Choklate has already taken the breath away from listeners worldwide.  Choklate infuses her sultry alto voice with hard, progressive beats and personal lyrics that tend to unearth all manner of emotion.  In a relatively short time Choklate has created an unsurpassed buzz catapulting her live performances as YouTube classics.  She has the ability to combine edgy street influenced beats with some of the most soulful and honest lyrics imaginable; reminiscent of old-school Mary J. Blige.  Be sure to catch her sophomore release entitled, “To Whom It May Concern”, as she (undoubtedly) continues to rewrite the rules of contemporary soul.

"Ain’t Nuthin’ Neo About Soul“, the term neo-soul is industry created. Soul music is experiencing a resurgence these days. I define soul music as “a spiritual revival of decades old underground funk“.
