Preston Construction, L.L.C. Achieves DBE Certification with SEPTA

June 17, 2009 - PRLog -- Preston Construction, L.L.C. (Preston Construction), a Philadelphia, PA based site contractor, was officially certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).  This is the second certification of this type that Preston Construction has achieved this spring, 2009, and marks another critical step in the company’s path to success.

Preston Construction’s recent certification with SEPTA makes this minority-owned company eligible to participate as a DBE with the following certifying participants: Allegheny County, City of Philadelphia, PennDOT, Port Authority of Allegheny County and SEPTA, as well as all other United States Department of Transportation federal-aided recipients in the state of Pennsylvania.  Eligibility as a DBE within each of these participating agencies is based upon mandatory reciprocity under the Pennsylvania Unified Certification Program, or PA UCP.  Preston Construction’s certification with SEPTA will be valid until June 30, 2012, and SEPTA will be soley responsible for the processing of all future eligibility recertification reviews under Part 26 of the PA UCP.

This recent DBE certification through SEPTA is an extremely exciting opportunity for Preston Construction.  With the SEPTA DBE certification in-hand, Preston Construction will now be eligible to secure its share of mandated minority participation in municipal, state and federally-aided contracting and construction work.  In these extremely challenging economic times, contracting work in the public sector is a tremendous benefit, and as funds continue to be released as part of the Obama Administration’s Economic-Stimulus Bill, Preston Construction will be perfectly positioned to capitalize on available contracting work that will be afforded as a result of the company’s DBE certification.
