Exploring Escapism and the Art of Meaningful Living: Christopher Brown and John Palmer

On the evening of May 21, 2009, the John Palmer gallery and studio in Houston, Texas featured speaker psychotherapist Christopher Brown to discuss the Art of Meaningful Living.

May 22, 2009 - PRLog -- The John Palmer Art gallery and studio hosted the second in a series of monthly Exploring Escapism lectures with featured speaker Houston psychotherpist Christopher Brown.  Brown is the author of The Art of Meaningful Living, which will make its national debut at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City's Book Expo America the last weekend of May 2009.  The book is a powerful collaboration by Brown and abstract artist John Palmer--Palmer's artwork is featured throughout the book.  Last night's event treated a small handful of guests to the theory, methodology and history behind not only the book project but also the powerful friendship and alliance of Christopher and John.  Brown provided examples of his use of John's artwork during therapy with his clients, and John Palmer told stories of how his artwork is both healing and therapy to himself and his cherished collectors.  John Palmer started painting more than ten years ago after the tragic and unexpected loss of his father.  Last night John spoke emotionally about this subject and how his life as an artist was born when his father passed away.  After such an incredible loss, John Palmer now chooses to live a meaningful life.  Palmer is the embodiment of positive energy and enthusiasm.  He works diligently to improve himself and his life outlook through meditation, bikram yoga, therapy and exercise.  John's Palmer's art movement, Escapism, is also in tune with the idea and spirit of living a truly meaningful life.  Escapism is not about avoiding one's personal fears and challenges but rather tackling them head-on and moving towards one's true purpose.  The John Palmer Art team would like to thank Christopher Brown for joining us for such a special evening.  If you are interested in attending a future Exploring Escapism lecture or have a suggestion for a upcoming featured speaker, please do not hesitate to call the John Palmer Studio at 713-861-6726 or visit http://www.johnpalmerart.com.  Please contact Taft McWhorter with the John Palmer Studio if you would like to inquire about acquiring a piece of the the original artwork that is included in The Art of Meaningful Living as only a few remain.
