May 21, 2009 - PRLog -- The PrisonPostOffice.Com positions itself as the safest, easiest & most cost effective communication solution for inmates and their loved ones.

Chicago, IL – The Prison Post Office.com launches a national awareness campaign highlighting its practical approach of using technology to create, nurture, and cultivate relationships between inmates and their loved ones during periods of incarceration.

“Everyday in America over 1600 inmates are released from prison, that’s over 600k people per year coming home to various communities across America. And if one of the most important goals of incarceration is to truly rehabilitate inmates, then it needs to start with healthy communication from the first day of incarceration between the inmate and their loved ones on the outside. Once that connection diminishes or becomes non-existent, study’s show that inmates are more likely to regress and participate in activities that lead them down a dangerous path. Our goal is to fill the void and make it easy to keep in touch” – said Luxx Johnson the PPO’s Founder and CEO

The Prison Post Office allows customers to create unique email accounts for specific inmates. From there, based off of monthly plans from $9.95 - $29.95, all emails received will be printed out and sent via snail mail periodically throughout the week. When the inmate opens the letter, it can include up to 6 fully typed pages from everyone that sent emails to their unique email address. The site does not require the inmate to have computer access and there is no maximum number of emails that can be sent. Additionally the site features an inmate locator tool, upload picture option, and it also has the functionality to wire inmates money directly from Western Union.

“Without a doubt The Prison Post Office will impact the incarceration experience for both inmates and their loved ones in a positive way. Inmates are going to receive more mail than they’ve ever received before, from many more people. People are in front of their computers and on Smart phones for hours at a time. Doing everything from Twittering, to uploading pictures on Facebook, so the technology is already in place. For the High school kids with either 1 or both parents locked up, for the grandparents who struggle every month to cover the excessive costs of accepting collect calls from jail, to the girlfriend or boyfriend that just wants to send an encouraging forward to their significant other, The Prison Post Office speaks to them”- said Kristyn Johnson, Vice President of Communications.

Since its creation The Prison Post Office has received overwhelming support from community groups, politicians, ministers, educators and the Hip-Hop community. Many of these supporters will be highlighted throughout the television, radio, and media blitz that is underway.
