Raleigh Breast Cancer Expert Dr. Lisa Tolnitch Selected For WRAL News Breast Cancer Panel

May 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC: Regarded as a pioneer in the area of breast health in North Carolina, Dr. Lisa Tolnitch will participate in an all expert panel comprised of 13 Raleigh area oncologists from Rex, Duke and UNC sponsored by WRAL News.  Latest estimates put new cases of breast cancer for both women and men at nearly 194,000 in the US and estimated deaths at nearly 41,000 annually.  

“Breast cancer advances are encouraging.  Today, there are more options available. While early screenings are always helpful, today, we can be more aggressive with treatment courses while preserving quality of life for our patients.” Dr. Tolnitch explained.  “Participating in the WRAL Breast Cancer panel is a welcome opportunity to more fully engage our community with frank discussion about breast cancer.  Even with awareness initiatives, there are still concerns and questions that need to be addressed to help people make decisions that are individual to their specific circumstances.” Tolnitch continued.

Dr. Lisa Tolnitch, opened her practice, Tolnitch Surgical Associates in 1991 to focus exclusively on breast health.  In 2004, Tolnitch founded Pretty In Pink Foundation, a not for profit organization that provides financial resources to underinsured and uninsured North Carolinians with breast cancer.
