Cell Phone Recycling Drive Held By Miles Technologies To Raise Funds For Scleroderma Research

May 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Miles Technologies will be hosting a cell phone drive from Wednesday, May 20th until Friday, June 12th in order to raise funds and awareness for Scleroderma, a chronic autoimmune disease that can result in fatal organ damage.

Old or unused cell phones can be dropped off at Miles Technologies corporate headquarters, located at the corner of route 38 and Pleasant Valley Avenue in Moorestown, New Jersey, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

All cell phones collected in the drive will be recycled.  Each cell phone will result in a $3 donation for the Delaware Valley Chapter of Scleroderma Foundation, located in Cherry Hill New Jersey.  Additionally, donated cell phones are eligible for tax deductions of up to $50 each.

The decision to hold the cell phone drive was made after a suggestion from Dan Sommese, IT Project Manager at Miles Technologies.   “A close friend of mine recently passed away after fighting this disease for almost seven years,” says Sommese.  “Her positive attitude throughout her fight was amazing.  It inspired me to take action and help raise funds for Scleroderma research.  Everyone here at Miles Technologies has been quick to jump on board and show their support.”

The Scleroderma Foundation is the national organization for people with scleroderma and their families and friends. The mission of the Scleroderma Foundation is to raise funds for research on the cause and treatment of scleroderma; to help patients and their families cope with the disease through mutual support programs; and to educate patients and their families, as well as medical professionals and the public, through meetings, literature, newsletters and public awareness programs.
