Follow on Google News | Marc Chagall and John Palmer: Bringing Art to the MassesThe John Palmer gallery and studio of Houston, Texas has held the first in a series of private discussions on art with a select small audience and a featured speaker. The first discussion featured Deborah Norsworhy of Lafayette, Louisiana.
By: John Palmer Art Norsworthy spoke with eloquence about the current display at the museum entitled "Chagall for Children" and drew a parallel between the two artists: Chagall and Palmer. She said that the tie is not visible in the artwork but more in the men as individuals and a shared belief system. Marc Chagall (1887-1985) achieved fame and fortune over the course of a very long career. Norsworthy, however, commented on both artists' desire to make art available to the people. While it is undoubtedly true that John Palmer and Marc Chagall original artwork can cost a pretty penny, both men have a common principle that artwork should be available and enjoyed by the masses and not just the seasoned gallery collector. The idea that Palmer embraces sending the presidential bust series to public display in a children's musuem, is vitange John Palmer and a perfect illustration of Norsworthy's comparison. Palmer also spoke about his art movement of Escapism and the idea that it is not only a style of artwork but also a mental ideal to constantly improve one's self and the world around them. He noted that Escapism is not about finding an escape from life's problems.
