Follow on Google News | Facebook Based Business Sells Tiny Island PropertiesTwo Massachusetts entrepreneurs have launched a business that leverages the Facebook Application Platform to market and sell tiny lots on tropical islands.
Intrigued by the concept of naming a star, or buying single shares of companies as novelty items, Brogie and Botticelli founded MB Island Ventures to give the average person the opportunity to own real property on a tropical island. The pair is taking lot reservations on-line via its ‘My Island Paradise’ Facebook application, (apps.facebook.com/ “This is a fantastic gift idea since it gives people the opportunity to dream about a private island paradise that they actually own. To make the dream a reality, all owners receive high quality deed documents that they can proudly display”, says Brogie. The pair will also be reserving a large portion of the island for exclusive use by people placing advanced orders. “We don’t expect that most owners will ever make the trip, but knowing that they could actually spread out on their own tropical beach makes the dream that much more satisfying”, added Brogie. The company uses Facebook to take orders and to communicate with owners of the ‘micro-lots’ The goal of the company is to have 25,000 reservations by mid year, and to complete the acquisition and subdivision of one of their targeted islands by this fall.
