By: Mark Jotlin Activity Splash; quite the PANDAmonium. What is this "Activity Splash" site thats gaining so much attention? I'm sure many people who frequent charity events are sure to have spotted the scene made by some high school students dressed up as a panda. But what are these students doing? Is this merely some high-school prank, or something bigger? To get a better look, we interviewed the two minds heading this operation: Sophomore, Josh Mangel; and Junior, Avi Zolty-- both from the Weber School. Together, these two young students are taking on a giant challenge: to help the community. "We came up with the concept to compete in this years web-challange," This years Webchallenge hosted by Georgia Tech, invited students to compete in trying to "Create something that benefits the community". Josh and Avi brainstormed, and came up with the blueprints of this one of a kind application. These two young entrepenuers are not by any means new to the whole 'internet' thing, and have created several successful sites from a hosting company named to various web-applications.. Activity Splash is a site catered to connecting potential volunteers with charity organizations and function, as well as community events taking place around the neighborhood. "Instead of meaningless addresses, people can now visually see a graphed out map of there surrounding area, and all the events in there location" Says Zolty who's jobs at marketing is based more on the marketing aspect. And the Panda? Zolty explains it is a way to get attention "after all, who doesn't take a second glance at a panda volunteering at a charity event, it's our way of helping the community while at the same time marketing our application" So next time you see that giant panda walking around- go over and say a big "hello" to the two young active teens of "ActivitySplash.com"!
