ASTRI finds success in WiMAX ASN-GW Interoperability testing

March 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) has recently completed interoperability testing (IOT) of its WiMAX Access Service Network Gateway (ASN-GW) with Micro Base Station from Institute for Information Industry (III) in Taiwan with full success. The IOT is based on the specifications laid down by the WiMAX Forum’s Network Working Group.

ASTRI’s ASN-GW successfully provides end-to-end IP connectivity between WiMAX Mobile Subscriber (MS) and IP core service network, enabling mobile users to enjoy various service applications, such as web browsing, file transfer, media streaming, etc.

The IOT over standard open R6 interface between ASTRI’s ASN-GW and III's Base Station (BS) not only demonstrates the reliability of network entry, user authentication, network exit and re-entry, but more importantly validates the multi-vendor interoperability of the ASN-GW platform across different vendors' BS and MS solutions.

With ASTRI's platform, mobile operators can choose from different vendors the best-of-breed BS and MS to reduce deployment and operation costs and provide complete Mobile WiMAX solution for the users.
