Accent Construction Releases 2009 Green Design Guide

March 12, 2009 - PRLog -- CHAPEL HILL, NC – Accent Construction, a Triangle-based commercial construction company focused on environmentally-friendly tenant finish, has announced the release of their 2009 Green Design Cost Comparison Guide. The 16 page guide provides an easy to understand, side-by-side look at standard building systems and finishes as compared to green options.

The guide, first published in 2008 and updated in January 2009 to reflect pricing changes, covers most commercial interiors building systems and finishes, including lighting, plumbing, glass, surface materials, flooring, casework, heating and cooling.  Accent Construction developed the guide to help educate the commercial construction and interiors industry about the relative costs between choosing standard fixtures and finishes and those that are more environmentally-friendly and which may lead to a project being LEED (Leadership in Environmental Design) certified.

The significant financial benefits to green building can be found in lower costs for energy, water, operations, maintenance and waste disposal. These can be measured accurately to evaluate the return on investment over time.  Less easily measured but equally important is the improved indoor air quality and occupant productivity that results from implementation of green systems and finishes, providing competitive advantage over competitors’ non-green buildings.
