March 11, 2009 - PRLog -- PDM Healthcare announced today that it has contracted with Allscripts to add
Allscripts  Electronic Health Record (EHR), Practice Management and stand-alone electronic prescribing solutions to PDM’s group purchasing contract portfolio. Allscripts will be PDM’s preferred EHR-PM and e-prescribing provider.

Allscripts uses innovation technology to bring health to healthcare. More than 150,000 physicians utilize Allscripts to improve the health of their patients and their bottom line.  Allscripts provides a comprehensive suite of solutions for PDM physician practices of all sizes, including Professional® EHR and Practice Management, MyWay® HER and Practice Management, PayerPath® revenue cycle management (RCM), and Allscripts ePrescribe® stand-alone electronic prescribing.  Allscripts solutions can be provided over the Internet via a hosted model or on-premise.

PDM Healthcare is the largest multi-specialty group purchasing organization in the country and has been providing innovative business solutions to healthcare facilities since 1991. PDM’s members include physician practices, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals, centers, retail pharmacy settings, institutional pharmacy settings, and nursing homes.

PDM Healthcare’s preferred-provider contract with Allscripts is intended to help PDM members take advantage of new federal incentives that will pay physicians between $44,000 and $64,000 over a five-year period to adopt and use a certified EHR. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed into law Feb. 17 by President Obama, provides $19 billion to help healthcare organizations adopt health information technologies, with the majority of the funding going to support adoption of the EHR.

Ash Chawla, Chairman & CEO of PDM Healthcare is excited to partner with Allscripts to bring Allscripts Professional EHR to PDM’s members. “The addition of the Allscripts EHR technology will increase operational efficiency for our members, ultimately resulting in efficient practice management, faster provision of enhanced services to patients, and overall profitability,” said Chawla.

“We are excited to partner with PDM Healthcare to help their physician members provide even better quality care for their patients in a more cost-effective manner,” said Vern Davenport, President of Allscripts Professional Solutions Group. “Coupled with the new financial incentives from the federal government to use a certified EHR, physicians are motivated now more than ever to step onto the electronic healthcare highway.”
