Feb. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- The company sells research-based programs that show significant gains in reading and math scores as well as improved attendance and citizenship awareness for students/children who have used their materials in a pilot study conducted in the Florida and Louisiana schools by WestEd, a nonprofit research and service agency working in education and human development..

Math scores increased by 13%
Reading scores increased by 8%
Absenteeism decreased by 50%
Citizenship Awareness increased by 51%

These statistics were measured for students in Grade 4 who used the Young People’s Press material against those students who did not.

WestEd is conducting a two-year research study with 15,000 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Grades in 50 California elementary schools.  The findings will be published in 2010 after a 2 year implementation of the company’s Lessons in Character literature program which is bolstered by a Daily Oral Language and Writing with Character program.
