Generac® Introduces Five New Models of Liquid-Cooled Standby Generators

Jan. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Generac Power Systems, Inc., Waukesha, Wis., the leading manufacturer of residential and commercial standby generators, has introduced five new models of liquid-cooled standby generators to protect residences and small businesses during unforeseen power outages, according to Clement Feng, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Generac.

The new Generac liquid-cooled models have outputs from of 22 to 60 kilowatts (kW). Four out of the five models feature a quiet-operation, low-speed engine, which reduces sound output to minimal levels. Other improvements include development of an improved 2.4 liter, 4-cylinder engine, a standard corrosion-resistant aluminum enclosure to better withstand the elements, a run-time meter for monitoring exercise and maintenance levels and updated paint colors to better fit modern decors. All of Generac’s liquid-cooled automatic standby generators have higher power outputs than typical air-cooled models and utilize a radiator and water pump to assist in keeping the engine cool. The generators’ light weight allows roof mounting and makes them easy to install without large cranes or specialized equipment. All of these generators run on either natural gas or liquid propane, cleaner fuels that pollute less, are easier to handle and minimize fuel storage and containment issues. There are none of the fuel storage, spillage, spoilage or odor concerns that are common with gasoline or diesel models. Because of their favorable emissions profile, gaseous-fueled generators are becoming increasingly popular as an environmentally friendly solution for backup power needs.

Recent severe weather such as hurricanes, thunderstorms and tornados has caused many homes and businesses to lose power. From September 2006 to September 2007, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) reported that more than 11 million people were affected by weather-related or rolling blackout power outages. Home and business owners can protect against unforeseen power outages by installing a standby power generator that automatically comes on when the power goes out.
