Atlona Technologies get UL license for plenum Digital cable.

After many hours of research and development, Atlona technologies has obtained the first ever UL file number that covers CMP ratings for digital cables such as DVI and HDMI.

Jan. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Atlona Technologies announced recently its plans to develop and release the worlds first ever Plenum Digital cable, available in both HDMI and DVI-DL. Initially slated to be released in Q4 of 2008, development was temporarily held while the company obtained a UL File Number covering Communication cables, Type CMP, a standard that exceeds the required CL2P and CL3P for plenum cabling.  With the UL listing completed, production has started on both DVI dual link, and HDMI 1.3 cable, with plans in the works for a DisplayPort cable later this year.
Plenum cables are required for any school commercial and Government building in which cabling is routed through plenum air spaces above false ceilings, or raised floors. This safety standard is designed to prevent fire spreading, by burning along cable pathways and/or the cable itself.

Atlona Technologies turn quite a few heads in the commercial installation market when they announced their plans for this cable in early 2008 at the CEDIA expo in Denver, CO. The company has voiced their plans to market this cable in place of costly “Balun with Plenum CAT6 Cable” solutions, which were prevalent through out the market. Expect to see more digital plenum solutions from Atlona Technologies through out 2009.
