Rosh HaAyin, Israel, January 13, 2009 – Pointer Telocation Ltd., (Nasdaq Capital Market: PNTR, Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange: PNTR) - a leading AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) solutions provider for fleet management, car and driver safety, public safety, road side assistance, vehicle security and asset management, announced today the launch of a new temperature sensor to address the needs of the fleet managers transporting refrigerated items.  The temperature sensor, as part of the fully integrated Cellocator™ Compact Fleet unit, enables fleet mangers to be consistently updated as to the temperature of their cooled items and to make the proper adjustments, if necessary.

Addressing the needs of the multi-million dollar industry for shipping refrigerated foods and other items, the sensor allows monitoring cooled compartments by directly connecting to the Cellocator™ Compact Fleet unit.  The Cellocator™ Compact Fleet is an innovative integrated fleet management unit with superior location, tracking, event driven reporting, logging, and security capabilities. Fleet managers receive the current temperature of their items on every location update, alerting them on any breached thresholds and any other application layer activities.  The sensor measures temperatures in the range of -50°C to +75°C.  It consumes a low level of energy and, aside from the connection to the Cellocator™ Compact Fleet, no further calibration is required.    

Use of M2M location and tracking applications in industrial telematics is steadily rising. According to a new Berg Insight study, “Fleet Management and Wireless M2M 2008,” which covers the latest trends in the greater European fleet management industry, the use of tracking technology in industrial environments such as telematics and asset tracking in Europe will continue to grow, from 1.1 million units at the end of 2008 to 3.3 million units by the end of 2013.
