Dec. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- Telesoft Technologies today announced an extension to it’s telephony card family that combines media and signalling on one PCI-Express form factor board, reducing the costs of bringing new subscriber driven applications to market. Offering 8 E1/T1 ports and a Gb Ethernet interface the MPAC 3240 telephony board allows application developers to use servers from popular manufacturers like HP, Sun and Dell that increasingly use serial PCI-Express bus interfaces as the peripheral interface technology of choice.

The MPAC 3240 supports both signalling and media functions on the same card, reducing the number of telephony boards required and reducing costs, power and space requirements in bringing new services to network operators and their subscribers. Telephony boards allow application developers to link into PSTN, mobile and next-generation networks and offer services such as IVR, voicemail, conferencing, messaging, ringback tones as well as network infrastructure applications such as protocol conversion, SS7 nodes (MSC, HLR, SMSC, USSD etc), media and signalling gateways.

Key features include:
•   Compact half-length PCI-Express form factor, widely compatible with today’s compute server offerings.
•   Windows, Linux and Solaris support
•   Supports all major signalling protocols: ISUP, MAP, INAP, ISDN, CAMEL etc
•   Media support includes: switching, conferencing, DTMF/tone/voice activity detection as well as play/record on up to 256 channels

“The server industry is increasingly moving to the PCI-Express form factor from the older PCI form factor card because of its speed and bandwidth advantages,” said Gary Barter, Product Manager at Telesoft Technologies. “The 8 E1/T1 card doubles our available port density in a PCI-Express form factor allowing 24 ports of media and/or signalling in a typical three slot server. Coupled with the ability to have both media and signalling in the same board it ensures this card offers one of the best price/performance ratios available on the market.”

The MPAC 3240 is one of a family of PCI-Express form factor telephony boards in a range that includes a 4xE1 board and an STM-1/-OC-3 enabled board. It is sampling today while the MPAC 3245, with increased on-board processing power providing support for RTP and CESoPSN, is expected to sample 1Q09.
