Towing your Caravan using LPG

Dec. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- LPG  is an exciting alternative fuel which can be used to provide power to diesel and petrol cars and trucks. Many vehicles can be converted to run on LPG in order to save money and also protect the environment.

Many people want to know whether it is possible to use LPG to power vehicles that require a lot of torque, for example when you are towing. I have personally used this fuel to tow a trailer for a number of years. I know many people that use LPG to provide the torque required for large trucks and to tow large trailers.

LPG is a common name which refers to alternative fuels made out of a mixture of hydrocarbons; normally it’s a mix of propane and butane. These are a gas normally, however when compressed into tanks on your car at around 120psi it becomes a colorless, and odorless liquid. Normally additional chemicals will be added to make it smell so that any leaks can be identified.

-         It generates less greenhouse gasses than any other fuel for your car or truck
-         If the LPG is spilled then it will not cause as much damage to the soil or water as petrol and diesel as it is a gas.
-         LPG is also good for your engine; it can actually increase the lifespan of your engine.

LPG is very popular; Australia alone produces around 3,300,000 tons of LPG per year. This is expected to grow considerably in the future.

LPG is an extremely popular fuel for taxis, and many taxis have been converted to run on LPG fuel in order to reduce running costs. More LPG will be burnt per KM because it does not contain as much power as petrol, however as it is cheaper and cleaner there are still huge advantages by using it.

Filling up your LPG car isn’t a problem either; there are hundreds of filling stations which are equipped with LPG pumps in virtually every country throughout the world. Needless to say LPG is perfectly capable of using to tow a trailer, and will also save you a considerable amount of money.

Money is what most people are interested in, although an LPG system will cost quite a lot to install, however as long as you intent to keep your car for a couple of years you should experience beneficial savings, plus you are also protecting the environment! Start converting your truck to LPG now so that you can benefit straight away, it provides plenty of power to tow anything your car is normally capable of pulling.
