Chicago Beverly Preschool’s Fall Feast puts Dads in the Classroom

Nov. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL  – Little Hands Learning Center giving fathers one-on-one time with their child—showing the extra commitment makes the difference.
It’s a memory maker that keeps students, faculty and dads craving more year after year.  The 7th Annual Thanksgiving Fall Feast is gearing up at Little Hands Learning Center preschool in Chicago’s south side Beverly neighborhood. It’s a must do event at the school at 2324 W. 111th Street and will be taking place on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 9am to 11:00am.  However, this feast is for a target audience---dads of the preschoolers at the school. “Kids do not see many men in a preschool setting, having dads involved makes this a unique experience,” said Michelle Brent, co-owner, Little Hands.
Students and dads bake bread, join together in a turkey hunt and spend individual time reading together. “One year a child told me that dads don’t read stories in preschool, that’s what teachers are for. This feast creates awareness and dads want to be involved,” said Brent.  
The fall feast has set a high standard of parental involvement at the academically diverse school.  In 7 years, 99% of the fathers have taken part in the Thanksgiving celebration.  Many fathers mark their calendars months in advance and check in with faculty to make sure everything is in place.  For children who do not have a dad around--- grandfathers and godfathers have stepped up to the plate.   For more information, contact Shawn Zanotti at (312) 212.4261 or Michelle Brent at (773) 456.7471.
