Nov. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- Research from Budget Van Insurance* shows half the British female population have difficulty finding good quality tradespeople. The findings also reveal women as price-savvy but struggling to afford to have their pipes cleaned and fuses fixed!

Over a quarter of women haven’t used a tradesperson in the last year because they can’t afford it. This is in stark contrast to only 15% of men who have trouble finding the pennies to pay the plumber!  It’s therefore no surprise to find 20% of women stating price as an important factor when choosing a tradesperson; someway ahead of 17% of men.

British men appear to be a dab-hand with their tool box as almost a quarter claims they don’t need any DIY help and can handle jobs themselves. Some women are picking up where their fathers and partners left off with 10% now doing DIY on their own rather than calling in an ‘odd-job’ man.

Mnveer Arkan, Head of Marketing, Budget Van Insurance says: “Times are changing and it’s great to know women are making an effort to pick up the tool kit, or keep on the lookout for well priced, good quality tradespeople. As 72% of us are pleased with the results our tradesmen and women deliver, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that good quality tradespeople are out there!

“It is concerning however that women appear to have price concerns that men don’t.
We’ve produced a guide which can help the UK public make a really good choice when selecting a tradesperson to help us all get a fair job for a fair price.“

Across the UK, the British public are still leaving themselves wide open to shoddy workmanship with nearly half the nation having been a victim of a ‘rogue trader’ and 48% of people finding it difficult to find a good tradesman.
