PRLog -- Michael Kim Burroughs is an art teacher, the women’s soccer coach and the art department chair for Greensboro Day School, one of the largest non-sectarian schools in North Carolina, known throughout the nation for its excellence in education. Michael has more than two decades of experience as an educator and coach. As an art instructor, he draws on his fine arts background and expertise in ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography and printmaking. As the women’s soccer coach, Michael’s many awards accurately portray his achievement;
in 2007 and 2006, he was selected as head coach for the N.C. soccer team at the Oasis Shrine Bowl, in 2004, the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association named Michael Coach of the Year. In 2004, the National Soccer Coaches of America named him National Coach of the Year, State Coach of the Year, and Regional Coach of the Year. Michael attended the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in studio arts and ceramics and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Pembroke. He is an esteemed member of the National Art Education Association, the North Carolina Art Education Association, the National Council for the Education of Ceramics, the North Carolina Pottery Center, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association. He has presented at numerous conferences and has published over a dozen articles on sculpting, art, writing and pottery making.
