UniBul Merchant Services Launches New ECommerce Transaction Basics Guide

UniBul Merchant Services, a provider of credit card processing services to US-based businesses, announces the launch of its new ECommerce Transaction Basics Guide.

Nov. 4, 2008 - PRLog -- Boston, MA – UniBul Merchant Services announced today the launch of its new guide titled ECommerce Transaction Basics Guide.  The Guide was developed to help web-based merchants understand the basics of the eCommerce transaction process and develop best practices to ensure that every card payment they accept online is processed in a manner that is compliant with Visa and MasterCard regulations.  Compliance with Associations’ requirements will enable eCommerce merchants to get the lowest card processing rates.

The beginning chapters of the Guide offer a detailed overview of the eCommerce transaction process.  The authors have provided a list of the rules and regulations to which every online transaction must adhere.  Each stage of the transaction process is reviewed, as well as every participant in the cycle.  A detailed graph provides a visual representation of the transaction process and of the interactions between the participants.

A special attention has been given to the four stages of the online transaction process.  Each stage is reviewed and its sub-stages – presented.  The authors also provide an overview of the most widely used fraud prevention tools that are available to eCommerce merchants.  These include the Address Verification Service (AVS), Visa’s Verified by Visa and MasterCard’s MasterCard SecureCode.

The second part of the Guide is devoted to the issue of chargebacks.  The authors have presented a description of the chargeback process and a step-by-step overview of the cycle of interactions between the various participants.  The most common reasons for chargebacks are prominently listed as well.

The authors have provided a set of suggestions on handling copy requests and re-presentments.  The proper management of copy requests is very important as it provides merchants with a chance to address customer concerns and resolve an issue before it deteriorates to a chargeback.  Yet, the authors argue, even the best efforts cannot prevent a chargeback from occurring, at least on occasion.  They offer advice on how to handle charged-back transactions.

Finally, just as with the transaction process, the authors have provided a graph for a visual demonstration of the interactions between the participants in the chargeback process.

UniBul Merchant Services has developed its new ECommerce Transaction Basics Guide as a comprehensive point of reference for both its customers and every other web-based merchant in need of expertise in this area.  It is available on the company’s website at http://www.unibulmerchantservices.com/ecommerce-card-proc....
