Oct. 3, 2008 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, NY -- Famous 3-D Pop Artist Charles Fazzino has been commissioned to create the Official Poster to commemorate the 20th Annual Memory Walk sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter. The event -- the nation's largest to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research – will take place in Manhattan’s scenic Riverside Park on Sunday October 26th, 2008.  The poster will be officially unveiled at a later date to be announced.

Mr. Fazzino's official artwork will also appear on a scarf created by Echo Design commemorating the 20th Anniversary of NYC’s Memory Walk.

There are currently more than 250,000 people in our New York City community with Alzheimer’s disease as well as family members and caregivers.  Nationwide, there are more than 5.2 million Americans -- 500,000 under the age of 60.  By teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association, people of all ages can walk with a purpose – and move us closer to a world without Alzheimer's.  The New York City Chapter is currently recruiting walkers to join Memory Walk.

Lou-Ellen Barkan, President and CEO  of the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter said, "We are so pleased to have world renowned Charles Fazzino as the Official Artist for our 20th Annual Memory Walk.  We are confident that the sale of his beautifully designed posters and scarves will not only help us raise funds, but also serve as a powerful reminder to New Yorkers that we must work together to sustain the community as the epidemic of Alzheimer’s grows.”

Mr. Fazzino, Commemorative Artist for Super Bowl XLIII, stated from his studio in New York, “I am honored to have been asked by the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter to commemorate its 20th Annual  Memory Walk.  Hopefully, my official artwork will contribute to help the Chapter to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research."

The two-mile walk is expected to raise $1.25 million.  To register, start a team or donate visit www.alznyc.org/memorywalk or call the Memory Walk Hotline at 646-744-2997.
