Film Starring Paul Rodriguez to Screen Opening Night, October 10, 2008 in Orlando, FL

Orlando, FL (September 24, 2008)– Orlando Hispanic Film Festival announced today that Vicious Circle, a feature film directorial debut by Paul Boyd and produced by Angelyna Boyd, will kick off the 2008 Orlando Hispanic Film Festival.  The film stars professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez (also known as “P-Rod”) and Emily Rios (The Blue Hour, Quniceañera).  The southeast premiere presented by FUEL TV and Bright House Networks will take place on Friday, October 10 (red carpet event 6pm, screening 7:30pm) at Premiere Cinemas 14 in Orlando Fashion Square; the Festival runs through October 12th.  

Winner of "Best Picture" at the 2008 HBO New York International Latino Film Festival, where it screened to enthusiastic audiences, Vicious Circle is a tragic punk rock Latino Romeo and Juliet teenage love story set on the streets of Venice Beach, CA. The narrative feature has been characterized as raw, edgy with a murder mystery twist.

"We are extremely excited to open our festival with the independent film Vicious Circle and bring this southeast premiere to Central Florida’s community.”  says Founder and Executive Director James Schoepflin.  “We are also very proud to showcase Hispanic talent within the independent film circuit”  added Schoepflin.

The story centers around RJ (Paul Rodriguez) an artist and skater who dreams of moving to New York City to pursue his aspirations to create comic books, meets his first love Angel (Emily Rios) a rebellious singer in a local teen age punk band. Soon their unexpected story of true love causes the tides to turn in both lives.
