The 7th Annual Garden State Film Festival which will take place in Asbury Parks Paramount Theater and other Asbury Park venues April 2009 is scouting candidates for their annual Robert Pastorelli Rising Star Award. The award is named after the late award winning actor and co-founder of the GSFF, Robert Pastorelli who was instrumental in bringing this prestigious event to the State of New Jersey. This prestigious award will be presented at the Garden State Film Festival Awards Dinner in April 2009. Please submit headshot, resume, and why you are nominating the person for the award. BIO FOR SUBMISSION:
Joe started out graduating from Howell High school in 1998. Soon after Joe attended The Chubb Institute for Computer networking. Once he graduated and received his degree Joe then went back to Chubb for a second time, in which he graduated again with a Computer Technical Support degree. Soon after he began working as an MIS (management Information systems) coordinator for The Tolly Group.

Within one year of Joe's time he was given a promotion to Administrator running a team of 5 controlling the network. During this time Joe's father passed away, forcing Joe out of the computer field and into the partnership of a restaurant in which his father was a part of. During his time at the restaurant he owned and operated a 25% share of both a restaurant and bar. During his time there Joe was offered a position in New York with Marc Echo Enterprises as a software engineer.

Joe continues to manage the restaurant as well as work in new york. Always interested in acting Joe decides to start taking acting classes at The Ted Bardy Studio For dramatic arts. Joe would work his 9-5 in New York, attend acting school from 6-9, then take care of the restaurant on his off time. Joe was quickly introduced to Lori Draz, who then introduced Joe to Vinny Vella (Sopranos, Casino).

Joe would go to the city every Tuesday Night to Vinnie's Night out (a small networking party for actors) where he quickly became friends with Lilo Brancata (a Bronx tale) and many other artists, and agents in the area. after only a few months Joe was signed to an agency, and quickly starting working on the show "Love Monkey" with Jason Priestly, and Tom Cavanaugh. Joe began doing extra work, moving up to stand-in, eventually leading into the part of Phil (a TRL stage manager on the show).

Joe had managed to market himself, and juggle everything in his life while dealing with the death of his father who at the young age of 44 died of cancer, while working, running a restaurant, and attending acting school.

Through the years Joe attended several coaches such as Bob Mcandrew, Lisa Regina, and more. After Love Monkey Joe was featured in STUFF magazines Hit article "The Real Goodfellas" which was a national print ad that is still viewed today.

Joe was also named "The Bentley Diamond Guy" acting in all of The Bentley Diamond Commercials as well as doing all of there print ads in the papers and Internet still working as The Bentley Guy Today.

Joe also went on to land two lead roles in Independent Films "Repetition Of Change" and The Roadhouse". Joe also worked along side Sarah Jessica Parker in a featured role playing a college student in "Spinning Into Butter" Sticking with television He has appeared on As The World Turns, Hope and Faith, as well as several commercials including Verizon Wireless, and Poppeys Chicken playing Togo Joe.

Joe's most recent achievement was this summer where he landed the lead role in Tru TVs (also Court TV) "Haunting Evidence" playing a real person by the name of George Allen Smith. A True story about a cruise honeymoon where the husband George Smith Disappeared, and getting the part as the host for "A Night of The World's best Short Films" along side Vincent Pastore.

Joe has been written up in several papers including The Asbury Park Press, and Jersey Journal just to name a few, as well as interviewed on New York Rocks TV, The Vinny Vella Show, and soon to be in Connecticut to interview about playing the role of there hometown Resident George Allen Smith on Haunting Evidence.


On his off time Joe donates his time to several cancer foundations such as The Ashley Lauren Foundation, and The American Cancer Foundation, he also works with The Arthritis Foundation, and other non-profit organizations anytime he can.
