WhiteCenterBlog.com Launches Automatic Translation Feature

Sept. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- WhiteCenterBlog.com today launched a new automatic Language Translation Service, which can translate the entire website into Korean, Chinese or Spanish at the click of a button.

This new feature is intended to help the blog appeal to more of its diverse White Center audience.

"With this new feature enabled, WhiteCenterBlog.com can now be read by at least 33% more of its residents," said Scott Schaefer, Publisher/Editor. "White Center is such a wonderfully diverse neighborhood, and we thought it was time that a local blog tried to serve those who speak languages other than English. As far as we can tell, we're the very first neighborhood blog in the Northwest to offer this feature."
   
Schaefer, three-time National Emmy Award winning former Writer for “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” also Publishes and Edits the B-Town (Burien) Blog, where he also plans to offer the service.

To activate the feature, Readers just click on a flag icon in the right sidebar representing S. Korea, China or Spain, and the site immediately switches to an automatically-translated version in that language.

In addition to providing updated local news, events, interviews, profiles, videos, photos, webcam feeds and more, WhiteCenterBlog.com also serves its community – recently it co-sponsored a fundraiser for the White Center and Highline Food Banks that brought in enough food to feed two local families for an entire month.

"The internet is an amazing place, and to be able to offer a website to a diverse community in four different languages is exciting," Schaefer remarked. "According to the 2000 US Census, around 55 percent of White Center residents speak English, 21 percent are Asian, and 12 percent Hispanic or Latino. This means that the WhiteCenterBlog.com can now be read by at least 33% more of its residents than yesterday."
