July 17, 2008 - PRLog -- E-clinical specialist etrials Worldwide (Morrisville, North Carolina) has announced that its president and CEO, Eugene (Chip) Jennings, resigned on July 8th “for family reasons”.

This is the latest in a series of senior departures from etrials this year, starting with former COO Peter Benton in April (see Biopharm Development News 21/5/08).  This was followed by the resignation of secretary, treasurer and CFO James W Clark Jr and board director Peter Coker in May (BDN 17/6/08).

The board has initiated a national search for a new CEO, and says it will also consider internal candidates.  In the meantime, vice-president of technology Chuck Piccirillo will take on the additional roles of interim president and CEO.  Mr Jennings will act as a consultant, as needed, to help with the transition of responsibilities.

Mr Jennings joined etrials as CEO in May 2007, replacing John Cline.  He was previously senior corporate vice-president at SHPS and president of Matria Healthcare’s health enhancement division, having started his healthcare career at Baxter.

“I would like to thank Chip for his leadership in setting in motion a major transformation at etrials,” said chairman Robert Brill.  “Chip leaves the company with an effective sales management team and revitalised sales force, and the entire organisation is keenly focused on driving sales of integrated solutions that uniquely address the needs of our customers … To Chip’s credit, he also formed a high-calibre senior management team to execute the growth strategy and implement the re-engineering initiatives across the organisation.”

Mr Piccirillo joined eTrials in September 2007 as vice-president of product development, and was appointed vice-president of technology in May this year.  He previously worked for Hill-Rom’s healthcare IT business, Kodak, Carestream Health and Nova MicroSonics.
