Eastern Connecticut REALTORS® Target Non-English Speaking Clients in 150 Languages

Partnership with LLE - Language Services enables Eastern Connecticut REALTORS to communicate with non-English speaking home buyers and sellers

May 29, 2008 - PRLog -- The U.S. Census Bureau reports that over 600,000 individuals in Connecticut speak a language other than English.  To respond to this increasing demographic, the Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS®  has partnered with LLE® - Language Services to provide interpretation and translation services in 150 different languages.  Under this partnership, REALTORS® and their non-English speaking home buyers and sellers will have access to “live” interpreters over the phone 24 hours a day and the ability to have real estate specific documents translated into another language.

This unique partnership significantly expands the options available to real estate professionals and the limited English proficient.  For face-to-face meetings, closings or conversations over the phone, Eastern Connecticut  REALTORS® can dial toll free into LLE - LINK®, LLE’s 24-hour on-demand telephone interpretation system, and be immediately connected to an experienced interpreter savvy in real estate terminology and procedures.

For property listings, email messages, websites or other real estate specific documents and forms, actual linguists are available to translate materials to or from English into another language.  LLE reports that linguists, rather than software or automated programs, provide a more accurate and credible translation from one language to another, because human translators are able to recognize cultural nuance and meaning within words.

“We are very excited to be able to provide this service to our membership and the non-English community,” says John Bolduc, Executive Vice President for the Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS®.  “We selected LLE because of its linguists’ knowledge in the real estate industry.”

“LLE is honored to be part of such a proactive effort with the Eastern Connecticut Association of REALTORS®,” states Kathleen K. Diamond, LLE President and CEO.  “This partnership with the LLE linguist community provides a way for real estate professionals to respond to their current limited English proficient clients while also attracting new opportunities by reaching out to prospective home owners whose first language may not be English.  Home ownership can truly be a reality for anyone in any language.”

Based on data from the LLE Language Index, the firm reports that the most frequently spoken languages in the United States other than English are Spanish, French, Mandarin, Russian and Korean.

Diamond founded LLE in 1979 with a mission to deliver excellence in foreign languages and immediately began providing language instruction to U.S. government agencies.
