The multi-billion dollar insurance companies are able to use their resources to aid their adjusters in handling accident claims. For example, the adjuster will likely have access to insurance company lawyers who can advise the adjuster on specific legal issues that may arise in your claim. The adjuster will also likely be able to send your medical records and bills to insurance company doctors and nurses, who give provide the adjuster with "expert" opinions regarding the amount of treatment that you received, and the amounts charged by the doctors who treated you. Armed with this type of information, adjusters then usually attempt to argue that the doctors provided unnecessary treatment to you, or that your doctors charged too much for their services, or both!
