Traffic Fatality Leads to Man Being Charged with Criminal Homicide

An 18-year-old man was charged with criminal homicide in connection to a traffic accident on Alcoa Highway that killed a motorcyclist this morning.

May 27, 2008 - PRLog -- Alcoa Police Sgt. Hank Morris said a warrant was filed charging Christopher Lashonn Crider, who has addresses in Knoxville and Alcoa, with criminal homicide at about 3 p.m. today.

Blount County Sheriff's deputies also filed warrants charging Crider with two counts of felony reckless endangerment. He was being held in lieu of bonds totaling $850,000 pending a 1:30 p.m. Thursday hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.

According to Morris, the motorcycle driver "Stephen L. Adams, 49, West Edison Street, Alcoa " was traveling northbound on Alcoa Highway at about 9 a.m. when a Ford Explorer, driven by Crider, turned from Lakemont Drive into the northbound lane headed southbound.

Authorities alleged Crider was fleeing the Green Acres Flea Market after stealing a radio. According to Alcoa Police Capt. Rick Arnold, a group of citizens at the flea market tried to stop Crider as he sped through the parking lot, but had to jump out of the way as the man drove through.
