May 5, 2008 - PRLog -- New Festival Director Announced by the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival (OHFF).

Orlando, FL - Ana Curras, Senior Director of the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival, has announced this week that Gisele Marasca has become the new Festival Director.

Marasca, originally from Brazil, is well-known in the community as co-publisher of Ahora Orlando, metro Orlando's bilingual magazine that showcases the local Hispanic community and shows how to make the most of living in Central Florida. Gisele had a passion—to make Orlando’s Hispanic community a better place through publishing. Now she is bringing the same kind of passion to the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival as the new Festival Director. What started as a media partnership between Ahora Orlando and OHFF developed into a full-time commitment. "It's a perfect fit," she says. "James Schoepflin, OHFF's creator and Executive Director, and everyone who's involved with the Festival are all about passion, integrity and quality, and are taking this important cultural initiative to the next level. As I got to know more and more about the Festival and the people behind it, it became impossible not to get involved!"

The Orlando Hispanic Film Festival was also proud to announce the addition of Daniel Ramos to its staff. Last year, Ramos worked with the Festival in the capacity of volunteer intern, and this year was called back and accepted the position of Festival Coordinator. Ramos, a Miami, Fla. native and a graduate of Lake-Sumter Commnunity College (Leesburg, FL) with a Hospitality major and PR/Marketing minor, says that his passion is with the Festival, and he's "in for the long haul."

The First Annual Orlando Hispanic Film Festival, held last year, was a smash hit. The event proved to be both high energy and high profile, featuring 50 independent films and attracting many film enthusiasts. This year promises more, Oct. 10-12, 2008 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, at Premiere Cinemas 14, Orlando Fashion Square. The festival provides a platform where independent filmmakers from across the world can showcase their work to industry professionals as well as the entire Central Florida community.
